RainbirdGEO CEO Yong-Sang Choi Attends the 76th International Astronautical Congress (IAC 2025) as Part of the Korean Delegation

Over 8,000 Participants Gathered in Sydney, Australia, from September 29 to October 3, 2025

Yong-Sang Choi, CEO of RainbirdGEO, along with researchers Hwa-yeon Choi and Ye-rim Seok, attended the 76th International Astronautical Congress (IAC 2025) as part of the Korean delegation. The conference was held under the theme, “Sustainable Space: Resilient Earth.”

IAC 2025 marked the beginning of a new era, as Australia officially announced its debut as a major space nation to the world, championing the theme of “Sustainable Space: Resilient Earth.” Key agenda items discussed at the congress included orbital debris management, Space Situational Awareness and Space Traffic Management (SSA/STM), satellite utilization for Earth’s climate and disaster observation, codes of conduct for responsible actions in Lunar and Martian exploration (such as the Artemis Accords), and the prediction of space weather (solar storms) and the protection of power grids and communication networks.

Approximately 40 to 50 heads of space agencies from around the world gathered, along with a total of over 8,000 experts and officials, to discuss issues related to space exploration, Earth observation, security, and space diplomacy. Attending as a representative of South Korea, CEO Choi of RainbirdGEO strengthened networking ties by explaining RainbirdGEO’s early warning systems and expertise in satellite utilization to experts from various countries.

During the conference, the Korea AeroSpace Administration (KASA) and the European Space Agency (ESA) signed an MOU for cooperation on wide-area ground station networks and space weather monitoring. The Sydney IAC 2025 served as a coming-of-age ceremony for the Australian space industry and functioned as a collective declaration by the global space and weather community toward achieving ‘Sustainable Space and a Resilient Earth.’
