As part of the ADB TA project, Strengthening Women’s Resilience to Heat Stress in Asia and the Pacific, supported by the Republic of Korea’s e-Asia and Knowledge Partnership Fund (EAKFP), RainbirdGEO successfully hosted a Community Knowledge Exchange Workshop with local women in Siem Reap, Cambodia, on 3 June 2026.
The workshop gathered women working across agriculture, tourism, and education to bring frontline experience directly into the development of a gender-responsive extreme heat early warning system.
The session was designed as an open dialogue to listen to the intended users and directly reflect their practical needs in the system’s development.


During the workshop, participants shared their experiences of heat exposure, how they currently respond to heat risks, and their specific needs for early warning information. These diverse perspectives are crucial for designing an effective, inclusive early warning system that genuinely addresses the unique needs of all community members.
The workshop also included a session for participants to experience the prototype of RainbirdGEO’s early warning service, where they actively navigated and tested the mobile application and its functions, providing constructive feedback on what worked well and what could be improved.
“When a risk situation arises, we can easily understand what to do. Beyond providing alerts, the system guides us on practical actions and checks in with us every day.”




During the visit, RainbirdGEO also held meetings with key local institutions, including the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology (MOWRAM) and the APSARA National Authority, to discuss climate risk response and the field applicability of early warning services within the local institutional landscape. Understanding the local regulatory environment and institutional context is an essential step in ensuring that technology reaches the people who need it most.
Through its system, RainbirdGEO aims to strengthen the climate resilience of those most vulnerable to extreme heat. Building on satellite data, AI-driven analysis, and mobile technology, RainbirdGEO will continue to develop field-centered climate risk solutions and work alongside local communities to shape a safer and more resilient future.
