Identification of Optimal and Vulnerable Areas for Coffee Cultivation in Ethiopia Based on Climate Change Impacts, and Selection of Potential Areas for Solar Cow Installations

Yolk, a company specializing in solar solutions, has implemented an innovative initiative in Ethiopian schools by installing Solar Cow (a solar charging system designed in the shape of a cow). This system allows children to charge portable batteries while they attend classes, which they can then take home with them. This approach is particularly significant in Ethiopia, where the cost of electricity can be prohibitive for many families. By providing a sustainable and affordable energy solution, Yolk not only helps parents manage their energy budget but also creates opportunities for children to access education.

The objective of this project is to assess the climate change impacts in Ethiopia, based on the data from 1950 to 2100. Through that identify the optimal and vulnerable areas for coffee cultivation and the suitable areas for the installation of solar cow systems.
