Incheon, South Korea, 2023 – RainbirdGEO was honored to participate in Korea Global Adaptation Week 2023, one of the significant adaptation events of the year, which aims to showcase and promote actions and practices to address and adapt to climate change impacts. The event was held in Incheon, South Korea from August 28 to September 1, 2023. It was a promising opportunity to engage with stakeholders worldwide, discussing and sharing ideas and solutions on how to best respond to climate change.

This is one of the special coordinated activities between the Ministry of Environment, Republic of Korea, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) secretariat, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the Korea Adaptation Center for Climate Change of Korea Environment Institute (KEI KACCC), and Incheon Metropolitan City. More than 700 representatives from governments, civil society, the private sector, academia, the United Nations and other international organizations, and multilateral financial institutions from around the world attended KGAW 2023.

At KGAW week, RainbirdGEO showcased our core technologies and solutions to support communities in mitigating the risk produced by disasters. These solutions include:

Multi-hazard early warning mobile application – Rainbird App: We utilize satellite data received from the Korea GK2A satellite and process it through tailored warning alert algorithms about natural hazards, such as floods, storms, and droughts. This application aims to help communities increase awareness and preparedness in proactively preventing and adapting to natural hazards and the impacts of climate change.

Climate Map: A climate map was designed as part of a project between RainbirdGEO and Yolk company in Ethiopia, using climate data from 1950 to 2100. The map identifies suitable and vulnerable climate zones for coffee cultivation in Ethiopia for coffee farmers.

At the event, RainbirdGEO received positive attention and feedback from many international visitors. Visitors expressed their excitement about our core technologies and desired to apply RainbirdGEO’s solutions.

RainbirdGEO believes that our technologies and solutions can provide significant support to vulnerable communities, especially developing countries, to cope with climate change. We commit to continuing to develop and provide advanced technologies and solutions to support communities in preparedness, preventing, adapting, and reducing climate change impacts
